About Carrie Young
Carrie Young, MPA, PhD, is an Assistant Teaching Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has served in the Peace Corps in Mali, West Africa, and participated in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary sustainability research for Cornell University in Kenya, Zambia, and Malawi, aimed at strengthening communication and education efforts around global sustainability. Her research explores collaborative methods for increasing equity and engagement, especially among underrepresented communities. At Cornell, she led the design of the innovative Cornell Atkinson - Environmental Defense Fund Sustainability Leadership Program to increase the impact of emerging researchers. She has over a decade of university-level teaching experience; her professional experience includes National Geographic, SC Wildlife magazine, and Tapestry Theatre Company.
