About Jim Panzer

Jim Panzer has taught high school physics in the Katonah Lewisboro School District since 2003. He has served as the district’s Sustainability Curriculum Integration Leader for grades 6–12 and developed Environmental Physics, an elective course for high school seniors.

A lifelong learner and passionate educator, Jim expanded his work to include equity-focused physics instruction after participating in a summer workshop on integrating equity into energy lessons. He then served as a content editor and workshop facilitator for the Physics and Equity Portal and has represented the organization at the American Association of Physics Teachers Winter Meeting and the American Educational Research Association in 2025.

Jim’s background in earth science informs his pedagogical approach, which emphasizes education as a critical component of climate change solutions. He is a New York State Master Teacher emeritus and an instructor with the Mid-Hudson Teacher Center.

Outside the classroom, Jim channels his love of music into directing the spring musical and leading workshops on the physics of music for fellow teachers. When the weather is warm, he can often be found coaching middle school softball.
