About Joel Oppenheimer
Joel Oppenheimer, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Assistant Director at the Psychological Counseling Center at SUNY New Paltz. His career spans from homeless shelters in San Francisco, California to residential drug treatment programs in New York. Through his extensive experience working with men, trauma, and groups, he sees connection and relationships as vital for a sustainable earth. He created the Positive Masculinity Project (2018), a campus intervention to decrease sexual assault by changing culture. PMP is based on Transformative Justice, Relational Culture, Anti-Violence, and De-colonization to hospice toxic masculinity, and to heal and birth a new way of being in relationship.
