About Kara Belinsky

Kara Belinsky is an Associate Professor of Biology at SUNY New Paltz. Her research focus is songbird behavior and conservation including past work on the evolution of singing behavior in warblers and thrushes and current work on how human development affects wildlife biodiversity using songbirds as indicator species. She leads an active lab of undergraduate researchers, and currently runs a long-term bird banding site (MAPS), a nest box network, and grant-funded projects sampling bird and bee diversity at a municipal solar array and the effects of increased hiking on mountain-top breeding birds in the Catskill Mountains.
