About Michael Asbill
Michael Asbill is an Assistant Professor in the Sculpture program at SUNY New Paltz, New York. He specializes in public art, often produced in collaboration with others, that forges connections between the natural environment and everyday social spaces. He is currently working on two projects. Processing Collapse makes extinction palpable by presenting sculptural objects made from North American Ash trees within the library system of a region infested with Emerald Ash Borer beetles. Loo with a View, a partnership with the Soil Factory in Ithaca, NY, is reimagining sanitation practices. Asbill is designing elevated composting toilets toward mainstreaming bionutrient capture and circularity.
