About Matthew Newcomb

Matthew Newcomb, PhD, teaches rhetoric, writing, and literary theory courses with a focus on argument, environmental writing, and science writing at SUNY New Paltz. He is a Sustainability Faculty Fellow and has worked as a writing program administrator. Publications on sustainability topics include work on sustainability as a principle for writing studies, evangelical rhetoric and environmentalism, and implications of writing on climate-related disasters. He is also the author of Religion, Narrative, and the Environmental Humanities: Bridging the Rhetoric Gap from Routledge (2023). He currently thinks about how to bring sustainability into administrative systems.
